Meet the Attorney

Raul B. Garcia is a California trial attorney with nearly four decades of experience representing businesses, lenders, real estate investors, and professionals in complex commercial and real estate disputes.

Mr. Garcia earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center, where he graduated in the top quarter of his class and was inducted into an academic honor society recognizing scholastic achievement. He was admitted to practice law in California in 1987 and was subsequently admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.

Mr. Garcia began his legal career with Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith LLP, one of California’s largest law firms. There, he represented an Inland Empire mortgage warehouse lender in a multi-million-dollar RICO action and developed substantial experience in loan repurchase litigation, lender liability claims, and mortgage fraud cases.

He later represented a national title insurance company, handling a broad range of title and real estate litigation matters, including easement disputes, mechanic’s lien claims, mortgage fraud, forged and falsified deeds, and lender-related claims arising from loan origination and servicing.

Just over three years after joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Garcia became a partner of the firm. He subsequently joined the national law firm of Arter & Hadden LLP in Irvine, where his practice focused on representing lenders and loan servicers in commercial foreclosures, receiverships, deficiency actions, mortgage litigation, and complex real estate disputes.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Garcia has developed particular expertise in business litigation and real estate litigation. In 2007, he was selected by his peers for inclusion among Southern California’s top attorneys, as published in the Super Lawyers section of Los Angeles Magazine.

Mr. Garcia currently serves as general and litigation counsel for a company recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States. In one notable case, he successfully defended the company against insurance fraud allegations asserted by the California Department of Insurance and a major Mexican health insurance carrier. Following a jury trial lasting approximately six weeks, the jury returned a complete defense verdict against claims exceeding $10.5 million. Within six months, Mr. Garcia secured an additional $1.2 million judgment on behalf of the same client, helping the company navigate the economic challenges of the pandemic.

Mr. Garcia has also successfully litigated complex partnership and real estate disputes. In one matter involving the dissolution of a real estate partnership, he prevailed after a lengthy bench trial involving more than 10,000 pages of documentary evidence and continued that success through the appellate process, including proceedings before the California Supreme Court.
